The compressor consists of a gear unit with a central bull gear that drives two to eight radial-flow impellers (variant with two bull gears and a maximum of ten impellers). It is equipped with interstage coolers. Multistage integrally geared compressors also offer the option of combining the processes of compression (combined compressor) and expansion (compander variant).
